Concerned about fire safety in the West Valley,
Councilmember Blumenfield worked to secure funds to fully restore the FS
73 Engine Company in 2018. Fire Station 73, located on Reseda Blvd, was
able to fully restore its engine company after six years of deep local
cuts following the Great Recession. Restoring the engine company
provides LAFD with an additional resource to respond to calls in the
community and throughout the surrounding area to keep residents safe.
Adding a new fire engine means twelve more firefighters were added to
the station. This restoration was made possible by grant funds from
FEMA and additional funds by the City Council to invest into hiring
more firefighters to staff engines throughout the City.
